SEMOViS

Development of a 450 mm multi-instrument for VIS-SWIR

TIME HORIZON

2024-2026

SEMOViS project is being carried out by a consortium of Marble Imaging (prime) and Scanway (subcontractor), in European Space Agency InCubed programme - managed by the ESA Φ-lab Invest Office. Goal of the project is the development of a very-high-resolution (VHR) optical payload. The payload comprises a sub-meter visible, near-infrared imager and a high-resolution, short-wave infrared imager. The optical payload will fly on the first satellite planned to be launched in the first quarter of 2026 and the subsequent constellation. The two-year project funded by the ESA InCubed programme covers the complete development, integration and commissioning of the payload for the first demonstration satellite.

Project goals

Two optical instruments providing a ground sample distance (GSD) of 80 cm in the visible (VIS) and near-infrared (NIR) bands, and 10 m in the short-wave infrared (SWIR) bands (by Scanway Space)

Valuable EO data and analytics that can be seamlessly integrated into policy and decision-making processes across various sectors, including insurance, agriculture, urban planning or logistics (by Marble Imaging)

Project results

The full optical payload is planned to be delivered for integration into the satellite platform in November 2025.

The first satellite launch is scheduled for the first quarter of 2026.
