TRACZ

Testing Robotic Application For Catching in Zero-G

TIME HORIZON

2017-2019

Continuing the cooperation with the students of Wroclaw University of Science and Technology, for the second time we took part in REXUS/BEXUS (Rocket/Ballon Experiments for University Students) program. This time we launched the TRACZ experiment from the Esrange Space Center (Sweden).

Project goals

To test the feasibility of using a jamming gripper in microgravity and vacuum conditions andconduct a series of tests in space and analyze the result.

Designing of a jamming gripper operating in vacuum and microgravity

Gripping a sample several times under these conditions and measuring the gripping force

Evaluation of the usability of the solution for Space missions

Observing membrane deformation during gripping

Gaining experience of project members by working on a project according to ESA standards

Project results

The gripping process observed by the vision system

Validation of the performance of the vision system in the experiment
